Information The Burrow and Other News
Posted by: BackgroundDrider - 2023-09-23, 06:52 PM - Forum: Rules and Announcements - No Replies

If you're here, you more than likely found me on another site that linked back to my old blog style site: https://burrow.drider.one

So, unless this is your first time seeing that site, you might be wondering why it's changed.  The reason is simple: the platform I was using was one called ghost, and it's one that, in the past, I've had quite a bit of unnecessary trouble with on the backend when upgrading between versions.  This time around, it decided not to detect the database for whatever reason, and that was the final nail in the coffin.

I went through a few different blog/CMS style software before finally settling on simply using a managed service, via Obsidian publish.  I've redirected everything properly I think, so the burrow should now be forwarding to that site instead.

Interestingly, around that same time I was dealing with server issues, DeviantArt decided to nuke Karbo's account without warning or recourse.  Yet another wave of prudish, NSFW crackdowns are rolling out it would seem.  With tumblr gone, that leaves both DA and reddit to the slow squeeze of the same venture capitalist prudes that want their sites as bland and milquetoast as possible.  I know people have been moving to Discord, but I don't view that as a replacement for forums or galleries either - not only is it primarily a chat software, but the same prudish VC groups are sinking their claws in deep.  I wouldn't be surprised if Discord goes the way of reddit/DA within a year or two at most.

There aren't that many sites left where groups of people can share and discuss their NSFW works that don't fall in line with what other people think as acceptable.  It's part of why I stood this site up - I wanted a place where written work was the primary focus, and wouldn't get buried amongst the waterfall of visual content.  The other part was disagreements with Eka's administration style, but that's a story for another time.  With all that being said: this site is hosted on a managed service, but completely run and maintained by me - so unless something fundamental changes with the service providers, I don't plan on anything happening to it for a good long while.

While logophilia is primarily focused on written work, so long as the actual art is hosted elsewhere, I see no reason why it couldn't be discussed or links shared here.  If people are interested in doing that, I'll set up a specific forum for visual work to be shared and discussed.

Information Spam on the Contact Form
Posted by: BackgroundDrider - 2023-09-03, 04:45 PM - Forum: General - No Replies

Due to nothing but spam so far on the contact form, the form has been temporarily closed.

Its main purpose was to provide a way for non-forum users to contact the site admin and appeal any bans or ask questions about how to sign up; however, since I'm the only user at the moment, that seems counter productive.

If more users sign up, I'll re-enable the contact forum; but until then, it serves no purpose, as no-one's been banned.

Information Elsewhere Rules and About
Posted by: BackgroundDrider - 2023-07-12, 07:30 PM - Forum: Elsewhere - No Replies

Welcome to Elsewhere!  If you're not sure where the story you want to post or discuss should be posted, you can post it here!

If an admin or moderator finds that your story would be suitable in another category, they can move it there at a later time.

If you feel like a broader category should be created, start a discussion for it in this forum, using the [META] thread tag!

Please note that Elsewhere is not a place for content that violates site wide rules.  Attempting to post or discuss stories that violate the site wide rules will still result in administrative action.

Information Monster Human Rules
Posted by: BackgroundDrider - 2023-07-12, 07:25 PM - Forum: Monster Humans - No Replies

Here are the Monster Human forum rules, in addition to the global site rules.

To post or discuss a story here, a story must involve a monster human in some way.  Monster human is, simply put, a human monster hybrid.

Monster Girl Encyclopedia, while a prominent source of inspiration, is not binding on this forum.  So long as at least one of your primary characters or active species in your story is a human monster hybrid, the story can be posted and discussed here.

A primary or active species means that the character in question plays a major role in the story; or the species make recurring, meaningful impacts on the story in question.  If you can replace the character or species in question with a human and nothing changes other than their appearance, consider posting the story elsewhere first.

Big Grin Welcome to Logophilia.net!
Posted by: BackgroundDrider - 2023-07-11, 10:43 PM - Forum: General - No Replies

Hello and welcome to Logophilia.net!

This site was conceived to share, discuss and promote written text of a generally not safe for work/erotic nature for writers/authors and readers alike.

With reddit being so openly hostile towards its user base and other sites being less than lax with their own moderation setup, I'm hoping this forum will be different.  Previously, a Lemmy instance was set up in place, but there were a few difficulties in maintaining that setup that caused me to switch to a traditional forum:

  • Technical problems on Lemmy's backend required a knowledge of the rust programming language in order to properly debug
  • Other members of the "fediverse" were simply blacklisting NSFW instances of lemmy, essentially splitting the federation userbase into SFW and NSFW with little to no overlap for users.
  • The largest NSFW instance of Lemmy is/was having administrative trouble, and seems to be somewhat unstable for the foreseeable future

Those are the biggest reasons that caused me to switch from a federated Lemmy instance to a traditional forum instance.

Global site rules can be found here.  Forums with additional rules will have their rule threads pinned - be sure to check those before posting!

I'm still getting things set up and squared away, so if you run into something that doesn't seem to be working quite right, send me a PM and let me know.

If you're new, consider dropping a reply below and saying hi; and thanks for reading!
